AMP Michigan CAT Peaking Project Revenue Bonds
AMP’s Michigan CAT Peaking Project serves as an additional generation capacity resource and provides emergency generation through natural gas Caterpillar (CAT) engines that are dispatched on an economic basis.
About the Michigan CAT Peaking Project
The project serves three participating AMP Member communities — Clinton, Coldwater and Marshall — and includes 20 megawatts of behind-the-meter (BTM) generation across four project host sites.
AMP developed this project to provide local generation behind the participating utilities’ meters. The project also provides participants with capacity resources in Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and emergency backup generation.
AMP owns the BTM units and contracts with McAllister to maintain the units, which are dispatched by AMP’s Energy Control Center. Learn more about AMP’s BTM projects here.
