American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is offering Noteworthy AI as a subscription program. This service helps public power utilities collect and review pole and pole-top asset data more efficiently using vehicle-mounted cameras and AI analysis.
Through AMP’s program, Members can deploy Noteworthy AI in a way that aligns with their operational needs and budgets. Members can rent cameras from AMP, purchase their own cameras, or contract with AMP to have AMP or a contractor perform the drive with AMP’s cameras. This flexibility allows Members to integrate AI-powered pole inspections into existing fleet operations or conduct dedicated pole patrols as needed..
The system passively captures high-resolution images of every pole along the driven route, enabling data collection as utility employees drive throughout the distribution system during the normal course of their work. Using AI, Noteworthy analyzes each image — identifying assets, flagging conditions and uploading results to a cloud dashboard in near real time. The end result is a comprehensive, geolocated snapshot of utility infrastructure after just one pass.
The base platform offers the geolocation of poles with the ability to expand functionality through purchasing additional “Use Cases:”
- Asset inventory: Geolocate, inventory and capture high-resolution imagery for over 20 types of pole-attached assets
- Asset inspection: Detect leaning poles, transformer corrosion and oil leaks, and identify crossarm damage
- Damage assessment: Pinpoint storm-related damage and flag key issues such as open fuses, bypass switches and automatic transfer switch devices
- Lighting audits: Geolocate and capture high-resolution imagery for all lighting assets, classify fixtures by type, classify LED versus non-LED cobra head lights, identify NEMA sockets, and flag lights that are on during the day
- Attachment audits: Identify double and triple poles and flag the presence of third-party attachments
- Vegetation condition assessments: Detect vines growing on poles
Through AMP’s joint procurement, every Member community — regardless of size — has access to Noteworthy AI’s enterprise-grade technology at a cost built for public power systems of all sizes. AMP coordinates every step, from enrollment and camera logistics to data validation and integration.
