Technical Training Programs
AMP’s training program is designed for AMP Members and their employees. Training is a key ingredient in the ability of Member utility personnel to achieve and maintain a high degree of safety and system reliability.
2027 Lineworker Training
Over the past 29 years, more than 1,600 workers from 93 Member communities in six states have attended American Municipal Power, Inc.’s (AMP) popular lineworker training series.
The AMP Lineworker Apprentice Training Program provides Member utility personnel with a high-quality, certified training program that combines both formal classroom training and hands-on personalized instruction. With a focus on safe operations, system reliability and premier customer service, the training program includes four levels — Basic 1, Basic 2, Intermediate and Advanced — designed to follow the Northwest Lineman College (NLC) Power Delivery Program.
AMP is pleased that two of its programs — Lineworker Apprentice Training and Power Plant Operator Training — are approved by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship as a Registered Sponsor. This distinction means that any utility employee from an AMP Member community, regardless of which state they work in, who completes one of AMP’s registered training programs will receive a nationally recognized DOL certification for that training.
