AMP Names Paul Beckhusen Chief Commercial Officer

COLUMBUS, OH: American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is pleased to announce that Paul Beckhusen has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Power Supply and Generation Operations and Chief Commercial Officer.

Beckhusen joined AMP in 2019 as Senior Vice President of Power Supply Operations and Energy Marketing. In his new role, Beckhusen will continue to oversee AMP’s Power Supply Planning, Energy Control Center and Marketing teams, as well as Generation Operations and Development.

“Paul has been a successful leader at AMP and an invaluable resource to our Members,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP President/CEO. “I am certain he will do great things in his new position.”

Beckhusen began his career in the public power sector in 2000, when he was named Electric Operations Manager for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU). He was promoted to Director of the CBPU in 2003, a position he served in until being named General Manager for the Michigan South Central Power Agency (MSCPA) in 2017. He also served as a member of the AMP Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2019 and as a member of the American Public Power Association Board of Directors from 2011 to 2014.

“In all my years working with AMP, I have been deeply committed to serving the interests of the Membership and public power as a whole,” Beckhusen said. “As Chief Commercial Officer, all of my actions and decisions will be driven by that same commitment. I am thankful for this promotion, and I look forward to working alongside AMP’s executive management team as we help our Members navigate and succeed in this ever-changing industry.”

In the 25 years that Paul has served with the CBPU, MSCPA and AMP, he has developed a great deal of experience in strategic planning, integrated resource power supply planning, financial control, safety and environmental compliance, customer and stakeholder relations, economic development, workforce development and rate analysis.
