COLUMBUS: American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) President/CEO Marc Gerken is pleased to announce the appointment of two individuals filling key management positions with the organization. Scott Kiesewetter was named Senior Vice President of Generation Operations and Christopher Easton was named Vice President of Business Operations.
Kiesewetter has worked for AMP since 1992 in various positions both at headquarters and generation facilities. His experience with the organization includes engineering and supervisory positions at the former Richard H. Gorsuch Generating Station and positions at headquarters overseeing transmission/distribution design, distributed generation, operations engineering/accounting, new plant engineering and project development.
“Scott is extremely well-qualified for this position,” Gerken said. “For over 20 years he has held various positions with the organization gaining experience across-the-board from generation to the Energy Control Center. Scott is a recognized team player, well respected for his talent, knowledge and commitment to AMP and our members.”
As senior vice president, Kiesewetter will be a member of the AMP Executive Management Team and will oversee all functions of the Power Generation Group, including all generation resources.
Prior to coming to AMP, Kiesewetter held various positions with the Philadelphia Electric Company both in their corporate offices and at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University with a concentration in power engineering.
“We interviewed several internal candidates for this position,” Gerken said. “All of them were very talented and it indicates the strength of the staff in that area, which will serve the members well.”
John Christopher (Chris) Easton was named vice president of business operations, bringing with him 30 years of experience with municipal electric system management. Easton spent his career with the City of Wadsworth, Ohio starting as planning and development director and assistant director of public service. In January 2004 he was named public service director, a position he held until his retirement from the city last July.
“Chris Easton is clearly the right person for the job,” Gerken said. “With 30 years of experience in managing public utilities and 10 years as a member of the AMP Board of Trustees, Chris has the knowledge and experience needed for this new position. He is well-respected by his peers and understands both the industry and the organization.”
In his new position, Easton will coordinate AMP’s strategic planning effort, manage facilities and various programs as well as performing program analysis. His responsibilities will include overseeing all AMP-owned properties, vehicles and equipment, the AMP Forestry Program and AMPO, Inc., AMP’s for-profit electric and natural gas aggregation services provider. Easton holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Ohio University.
“Filling both positions involved a three-step process,” Gerken explained. “ First we benchmarked each position and the first interviews were with an interview team comprised of staff from throughout the organization. This allowed input from various departments in recognition of the key role played by these positions. The second interview was conducted by the AMP Executive Management Team.”
