AMP Hosts Successful Fifth Annual Lineworkers Rodeo

Published on: 08/30/2018

COLUMBUS, OH: American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) hosted electric lineworkers from three states within its membership for the Fifth Annual AMP Lineworkers Rodeo. The AMP Lineworkers Rodeo is a unique competition featuring the best lineworkers from across AMP’s membership demonstrating their linework tasks and skills.

The Lineworkers Rodeo features three levels of competition: apprentice, individual and team. The rotation of events is designed to replicate actual lineworker tasks and to test skills needed on a daily basis. Events are judged based upon safety, work practices, neatness, ability, equipment handling and timely event completion.

“The AMP Lineworkers Rodeo is a unique opportunity for public power lineworkers to compete and showcase their skills,” stated AMP Vice President of Technical Service, Michelle Palmer. “Lineworkers represent a critical link in reliably getting power to the customer and the work they do is extremely important. The Rodeo is an acknowledgment of the commitment and professionalism of the men and women who keep the lights on in AMP member communities.”
