AMP Celebrates Earth Day 2010

Published on: 04/22/2010

American Municipal Power Inc. (AMP) assisted member communities in the celebration of Earth Day 2010. The organization provided sample bill stuffers and an editorial for local use and provided discounted reusable shopping bags that member communities could purchase for distribution to customers. AMP also supported Earth Day activities with long-standing programs to provide discounted CFLs for local distribution and coordination of mercury thermometer recycling events.

AMP also partnered with Bowling Green (Ohio) Municipal Utilities at an informational booth for the Earth Day celebration on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Students had the opportunity to learn about various projects and programs being undertaken by the utility.

AMP recently worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry on a carbon offset program, which involved supply of 17, 500 seedlings to be planted in the Shawnee State Forest in southern Ohio. This supported ODNR’s efforts to replant a large section of the forest that had been devastated by fire last spring. Signage at the forest sites was installed in time for Earth Day.
